Tornados get Hot in Louisville, 35-6
LOUISVILLE, Ky.- On Louisville’s hottest day of the summer thus far, the Indianapolis Tornados defeated the hometown Louisville Saints with a final score of 35-6 on Saturday, July 24. Kick-off this past Saturday began at 5:30 p.m., and the temperature at the time exceeded 95-degrees Fahrenheit. Players on both squads were exhausted, thirsty, and uncomfortable, but no one fell victim to heat-related illnesses.
The Tornados struck early in the game. Mike Perkins had a 1-yard run in the red zone to put Indianapolis ahead 7-0 with 7:25 remaining in the first quarter. Later in the quarter, Luther Baker picked off an interception, followed shortly by a 16-yard toss from Ean Decker to Glenn Ayro for another Tornados’ touchdown. Terry Moore had an interception of his own that he returned for 80 yards, giving the Tornados a 21-0 lead at the 3:11 mark of the first quarter...
